This project was sponsored by Paper Whale, and the city of Bellingham. Me and 5 artist were tasked to create large murals to decorate unused properties in the area. Our pieces were printed by Stickers for Days and installed around down town. The goal of this project was to brighten up Bellingham and celebrate local culture through art.
I created 18 murals in total for two different properties. My subject of focus was the local wildlife. I wanted to use my bright colors to celebrate each of these striking creatures. My patterns and art style for these pieces was inspired by block printing. I used over lapping hues and bold colored areas.
Full Mural Series

This is the full series of murals in their vector forms. Each piece features a single subject and a very limited color pallet. Not all of these pieces made it to print, and many of them were moved between the properties for aesthetic purposes. Some of these figures were moved around the image for the purpose of add space and signage.
Transparency Options

I provided a transparency option for each of my murals, per request of the building owners. These are used when the windows are needed for light purposes or public engagement.
Future Planning Mockups

Me and Paper whale are hoping to expand this project, and find more spaces for these Murals. We are currently in communication with more vacant properties in down town bellingham. These mockups were used to show these property owners our vision for their buildings.
Street Layout Mockups

Grid Layouts

These rounds of assets were used to layout the murals on the windows. We had to collect the measurements and make sure each piece fit perfectly. I also made these mockups to map out the mural placement on the buildings. These models made it clear to the whole team which mural was intended to be where.

Original Inspiration Sketches

These are the sketches that inspired this mural series. These creatures have gone through many iterations to become what they are now. The first subject I worked on was the cougar, she was my experimental piece. Once I refined my style with her creation I ran with designing the rest of the series.
