For this project I was assigned to pick a common product and redesign it for the modern day. The goal was to elevate the product while holding true to the original, recognizable design. For my subject I decided to focus on CupNoodles, a well known instant noodle brand found in most convenient stores. I have been eating these noodles for years and I am sure most people can recognize the packages original design.
My hope throughout this process was to make a eye catching package layout without losing the reliability and comfort achieved by the old design. I also wanted to elevate the construction of the packaging to make the cooking and eating process easier for the consumer. After going through many prototypes I went with a added heat sleeve for the cup featuring a handle. I also created a folding latch that allowed the user to open the package from the top kinda like a bag of chips.
